    Register your horse

    Fill out the registration form and send us photos, videos, pedigree, competition results, and veterinary information. Also specify your desired asking price.

    Assessment in Putten

    After an initial selection, you will be invited to our sales location in Putten. During this appointment, we assess and test the horse, working together to set a realistic asking price.

    Sales preparation

    During a 2-week trial period within the total sales period of up to 3 months, we take professional photos and videos, list the horse on SportHorses, and gauge market interest.

Quality assurance

Clinical and radiographic examination

To safeguard the quality of the horses within the Sporthorses Sales Service, a recent clinical and radiographic examination is mandatory.

    Application

    First complete the application form in full. Based on the information you provide, we assess whether your horse or pony is eligible for our sales service.

  2. 2

    Submitting the examination report

    If your horse or pony appears suitable for our sales service, we ask you to submit a recent clinical examination report together with the radiographs listed below.

    The radiographs and the examination report are assessed independently by our permanent veterinary adviser:

    Selection

    If the examination is assessed positively, we invite you to present your horse or pony to the Sporthorses Sales Service. The horse is then assessed by one of our experienced riders.

The assessment covers, among other things:

  • character and reliability
  • rideability
  • natural ability
  • quality of the gaits or the jump
  • suitability for the target rider
  • overall presentation

  • The radiographs must be of good quality and clearly legible.
  • The examination report should preferably be no more than 6 months old.
  • If the information submitted is insufficient, Sporthorses may request additional examinations or new images.
  • The final decision on whether a horse is accepted into the Sporthorses Sales Service rests solely with Sporthorses. No rights can be derived from a positive veterinary assessment.

Our commission fee depends on the final sale price. The costs for boarding, training and presentation are fixed in advance.

Which horses are eligible?
We select sport horses that meet the Sporthorses quality standard. During the evaluation in Putten, we assess conformation, gaits, rideability, temperament, pedigree, and any competition results. Not every horse is automatically accepted.
How long does the sales process take?
The sales period lasts up to 3 months, which includes a 2-week trial period to gauge market interest. In most cases, the horse is successfully sold within this timeframe.
Is a pre-purchase exam mandatory?
Yes. A complete veterinary inspection is required, performed by a certified veterinarian and approved by Sporthorses. The exam must not be older than 6 months at the start of the process.
How much does participation cost?
The first two weeks cost €475, including boarding, riding and photography. After that you pay €750 per month, including VAT. The sales period lasts a maximum of 3 months and payment is made monthly in advance. Upon a successful sale, we charge a commission fee that depends on the sale price.
Can I withdraw my horse early?
Yes, that is possible upon mutual agreement. The terms for early withdrawal are outlined in our agreement beforehand so both parties know what to expect.
Who sets the asking price?
The asking price is determined together during the evaluation in Putten. We combine your expectations with our market expertise to set a realistic and achievable sales price.
What does 'Approved by Sporthorses' mean?
The 'Approved by Sporthorses' label is awarded to horses we have personally evaluated and professionally manage during the sales process. For buyers, this provides extra assurance regarding quality and presentation.
Will my horse be promoted internationally?
Yes. Beyond being listed on Sporthorses, we leverage our international network and social media channels to showcase your horse to serious buyers locally and abroad.
